Chassidut and Kabbala on the Torah and festivals, with compilations, by R. Aaron HaLevi [Horowitz]. [Lemberg]. (1842), [1862]. Two parts: [2], 93, [1], 76, 56; [1], 35, [2], 45-106 leaves. 25 cm.
First edition. The author was the leading disciple of R. Shneur Zalman of Liady and followed him for thirty years. After his rebbe’s death he became the Chassidic Rebbe of Strashele, and many Lubavitcher Chassidim turned to him for leadership. With approbations by R. Yosef Saul Nathanson and others.
There are several known variants of the title pages of this book. Here is the variant recorded on the CD of the Institute for Hebrew Bibliography. Printed on the reverse of the title page: “this is to let it be known … that a second section with a compendium has been printed, and G-d willing, the third section will be printed shortly.”
In very good condition, and in its original half-leather binding.
