The Principles of Faith, in a question-and-answer format, by R. Haviv Toledano. Leghorn, Eliyahu son of Amozag press. 1861. [1], 47 leaves, 19 cm.
Only edition. A unique work dealing with the claims of nonbelievers in the validity of the Written and Oral Laws. The book is arranged in the form of questions and answers. The questioner, who has doubts in his faith, is referred to as ”Yaktan, ” while the responder, the author, is referred to as ”Nahta”n” (the acronym of his name). The work also deals with the reasons for the mitzvot.
The author was one of the rabbis of Meknes, Morocco. He was born in 1800, and wrote the commentary Peh Yesharim on the Passover Haggadah (Leghorn, 1798). In the introduction to our book, he enumerates a long list of all his works, none of which were printed.
In very good condition with a few stains.
