Essays on the Jewish faith, culture and language, by John Walsh. Dublin, 1793. [4] leaves, 229 pp., [1] leaf, [one large foldout chart, two additional charts]. 20.5 cm.
The articles discuss Hebrew and Egyptian antiquities, Moses and whether the nations learned philosophy from him, the origins of the Hebrew alphabet, and more. With a large foldout chart (35 x 30 cm) of ancient alphabets.
This is the first book printed in Dublin with Hebrew letters. M. Rosenfeld in HaDfus HaIvri MeReishito V’Ad Shnat TaShac”h writes that the first Hebrew book in Dublin was printed forty years later. An exceptionally rare book.
