An album with etchings of six illustrations by Picard of Jewish practices, from the late 18th century. Berlin. [Circa 1900]. 35 x 45 cm.
With a title page, and an introduction in German by Dr. Otto Ebstein. Above each illustration is a verse in Hebrew related to it. Below are captions in Italian and French. The illustrations are taken from the series Ceremonies et Costumes Religieuses de tous les Peuples du Monde, illustrated by Picard. Here are the drawings of a circumcision ceremony, a chuppah, funeral, reading of the Torah, Pesach and Succot.
This is a limited edition, hand printed on thick, handmade high-quality paper. The etchings are in their original album, which underwent professional restoration.
