Lot 194:
A pair of silver Torah finials. [Aden, south Yemen(?). Early 20th century]. Height: 23 cm, diam: 7 cm.
The finials are made from cast and repoussé silver. The body of the each finial is made of a hemisphere over a cone attached to a round plate, with a round fringe at the top. The foot is straight and cylindrical, with four decorative strips along its length. Around the center of the body of the finial as well as around the plate at the bottom are round bells, hanging closely together on long chains. This is a very rare style of finials.
The signs of repair indicate that these finials were very well used.
