The five books of the Torah, the haftarot and Sabbath prayers, in a facsimile of early editions, with a French translation. Bergamo, Italy. 1966. [1], XXII, 1629, [2] pp., 29 cm.

The work includes:

1.The Chumash, a facsimile of the Venice edition of 1511, with a French translation on facing pages.

2.The haftarot, a facsimile of the Venice edition of 1548, with a French translation on facing pages.

3.The Sabbath prayers, a facsimile of the Frankfurt edition of 1686–1687, with a French translation of facing pages.

Printed at the beginning of the book is a facsimile page on vellum, handwritten in color with illustrations of the vessels of the Mishkan. Included are introductions by Léon Aschkenazi and Edmond Fleg about Jews and the Bible, and a table of contents of the parshiyot and haftarot in French. Interspersed among the pages of the book are dozens of facsimiles of illustrations from early manuscripts. It is not known how many copies of this large volume were printed and bound, but it appears that there were not many. In any case, this volume is unusually rare.

It was printed as a deluxe edition, by the well known L’Instituto Italiano d’arti Grafiche in Bergamo, Italy and bound in a handsome silver-plated binding, in 19thcentury style with clasps.
