The Jewish Popular Encyclopedia in Yiddish, by Simcha Pietroska. Montreal. 1942–43. Two volumes: VIII pp., 968 columns, [3] pp.: VIII pp., 968 columns, [2] pp. 23 cm.

The author was Polish-born and emigrated to Canada. He authored a commentary on the Mishnah which was published in Montreal in 1945–49. Some maintain that his commentary served as a basis for the famous commentary on the Mishna by Kehati. With a handwritten dedication of the author from 1944. At the end of volume one is a list of those who assisted him in the publication of the encyclopedia, including dozens of well-known figures from Canada.

The set is in very good condition.
