Jüdisches Nachrichtenblatt, a Jewish German-language newspaper, issue no. 19, from May 15, 1940. 4 pp., 47 x 31 cm.
This newspaper contained news and articles relating to religion and society, and many advertisements. Jüdisches Nachrichtenblatt began publication in 1939 and was the only Jewish newspaper allowed by the Gestapo, It was subject to intense Nazi censorship, and used as a propaganda tool to publicize the anti-Jewish laws and decrees and to promote Jewish emigration. Indeed, most of the articles and advertisements in this issue deal with the subject of emigration. Approximately 35,000 copies were printed at the time of this issue’s publication. The newspaper remained in existence until mid-1943.
