Books of Nechemia Samuel Libowitz

Remnants of the writings of the philosopher, physician and kabbalist R. Yosef Chamitz, together with the book Blil Chamitz by R. Yehuda Aryeh of Modena. Jerusalem, Darom publishers, 1937. 58 [2] pp., 25 cm.

First edition. With foreword and comments by writer and bibliographer Nechemia Samuel Libowitz, who writes that upon his visit to Jerusalem, he saw the book Blil Chamitz, authored by R. Yehuda Aryeh Modena about R. Yosef Chamitz. That book was published in Venice in 1624, and was so rare that not one bibliographer had it recorded. Likewise he discovered the work Ohr Noga, edited by R. Yosef Chamitz and printed in Venice in 1658, which was also extremely rare.

This edition was never distributed by the publisher because of errors, and because the final pages of Blil Chamitz were missing from the copy of the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York which he had been using to publish. The following year, he published a corrected version.

With the title page printed on the jacket, and with still uncut sheets. Naturally, the book was never bound.
