Lot 74:
A bibliography of maps of the Holy Land, arranged by Eran Laor. New York. 1986. XIX, 201 pp., with sketches of early maps. 31 x 26 cm (width greater than length).
This bibliography is the basic text for the study of Holy Land maps printed between 1475 –1900. It contains listings for over 1,200 maps! This is an album edition with many illustrations, several in color. A rare book.
Eran Laor was a collector and researcher of Maps of Israel who had 200 maps of Jerusalem, and approximately 1100 maps of Israel in his collection. He donated his entire collection to the National Library of Israel, and a special section was created for it, called the Eran Laor Cartographic collection, which is one of the most important collections of its kind in the world.
It is in excellent condition, with its original.
