Abridged English translation of Megillat Esther with illustrations, printed on vellum, and colored in by hand. United States, published by the Union of American Hebrew Congregations. 1940. Height of the parchment: 18 cm; length of the scroll: 195 cm. The wooden stave is approx. 35 cm.
The scroll was designed and illustrated by Nelson Ronesheim, and drawn by hand. Two of the drawings cover a whole column. There are seven smaller drawings and many tiny illustrations and six initial words. The Hebrew titles are painted in red. With a small slat at the edge to hold on with, and a string for tying. The Megillah comes in a case made of Bakelite, with metal plates bearing the words: “Megillat Esther, ” and other plates with a printed dedication from 1943. With a long wooden stave.
