Lot 85:
Explanatory notes on the order of Zera’im of the Jerusalem Talmud, by R. Eliyahu of Vilna (the Gr"a), with annotations and additions by R. David Luria. [Koenigsberg], Efrati-Becker Partners press. [1858]. 72 pp., 17 cm.
First edition. The notes were copied from the pages of the Talmud Yerushalmi from which the Gr"a studied. However, R. Yaakov Dovid Wislowski (Ridva"z) writes at the end of the tractate Peah of the Talmud Yerushalmi (Berdichew, 1895), not to rely on these notes because most of them were not the handwriting of the Gaon himself! He also adds there that he showed the handwritten notes to the publisher R. Shmuel Luria (a relative of the editor of this edition R. David Luria), and he acknowledged that he never saw the original book of the Gr"a, only a handwritten copy of the manuscript notes, and he could not actually identify the handwriting. See: K. Kahana, Lecheker Biyur HaGr"a L’Yerusalmi Ule’Tosefta Seder Zeraim (Tel Aviv, 1957) 5.
