Lot 21:
Founding publication of the Kol Yisrael Chaverim organization, or, as it was more widely known, the ”Alliance.” Paris. 1860, 25, [3] pp., 22 cm.
The pamphlet was printed in French. The inaugural convention was held in Paris in 1860, and its committee elected. This founding publication includes the declaration and guiding principles of the organization: the upholding of human rights of Jewish citizens everywhere, the upholding of Jewish honor, the providing of aid to fellow Jews in various areas, and in particular, the raising of their educational and cultural level. Twelve points are outlined, with a form for membership in the new organization.
The Alliance Israelite Universelle was the first international Jewish organization in the modern era. It functioned in the political and educational spheres. On the eve of the First World War, it operated 188 schools in North Africa, Persia and Israel. An important and rare historical document.
In excellent condition.
