Essays about the importance and eminence of the Land of Israel and Jerusalem, with a description of the holy places, [by R. Chaim Horowitz]. (Jerusalem, Bak press, 1844), actually [Lemberg, circa 1850]. [3], 63 [actually 60] leaves, 20.1 cm.

The book was first published in Jerusalem in 1844, and was copied and republished in Lemberg, circa 1850, keeping the original title page complete with an illustration of Jerusalem! See S. Halevi, Sifrei Yerushalayim HaRishonium, no. 23. To this edition was added an approbation by R. Aaron Moshe “Migeza Zvi, ” son-in-law of the book’s compiler, who was a student of the Chozeh of Lublin and the Seraph of Streliska, and founder of the Chassidic settlement in Jerusalem. This approbation was intentionally omitted from the first edition.

In good condition, with a minor tear in the illustration on the title page. The corners of the final leaves were damaged and repaired in facsimile. Original, damaged half-leather binding.
